US saw modest gains in trade sales and manufacturers' shipments, totalling $1,857.2 billion in August 2023, up 1.3 per cent from July 2023 and 0.2 per cent year-on-year. The country’s manufacturers' and trade inventories increased to $2,548.7 billion in August 2023, while the total business inventories to sales ratio rose slightly to 1.37.
